There weren't too many close games this first night as some of the state's top teams showed their stuff in impressive debuts. One big time recruit had a huge game along the way and we check how our predictions went.
Bay City Central vs Saginaw
OUR PREDICTION - BCC - 28, Saginaw - 7
ACTUAL SCORE - BCC - 24, Saginaw - 6
Hey, not a bad start for us. The Bay City backfield trio of Luther Ware, Trenton Robinson and Justin Reed was too much.
Flint Southwestern vs Midland Dow
OUR PREDICTION - Dow - 28, FSWA - 19
ACTUAL SCORE - FSWA - 49, Dow - 14
We thought Dow would hang in and pull away late and the Chargers were up 7-6 in the 2nd quarter, but then the Mark Ingram show began. The senior RB racked up 319 yards on 21 carries and 4 touchdowns. The addition of Ingram has Southwestern really looking like a team who will make a deep playoff run.
Macomb Dakota vs Port Huron Northern
OUR PREDICTION - Dakota - 38, PHN - 14
ACTUAL SCORE - Dakota - 35, PHN - 0
The Cougars got their title defense started off right. Mitch Lovett stepped right in for James Stallons and tossed two TD passes, one to Kyle DeMaster.
Michigan Varsity season record: 2-1
