Dream Team Receiver Still Looking Around

Jason Fleet was one of the state's best wide receivers this season. He put up great numbers and showed the type of speed needed to play at the next level. The Detroit News Dream Teamer filled us on in how his recruitment is going.

At 6'0, 160, Jason Fleet isn't the biggest receiver, but the DeWitt senior more than made up for it with speed, route running and hands. This past season, he grabbed 66 passes for 1302 yards and 19 touchdowns, yet some schools are still worried about that slight frame.

"A couple schools say redshirt and add weight, but others say I can play right away."

Fleet says he is getting interest from nearly all of the GLIAC, Dayton and Central Michigan. He has visited Grand Valley State, Northern Michigan and Michigan Tech and for the latter two schools, their locations aren't too much of a problem.

"I don't mind," he said, "I wouldn't say I like it, but it is not a big deal."

As for GVSU, Fleet was there on a visit, but he has a couple hangups with the Lakers.

"They said they had a lot of guys that were with me, so they could offer but not as much as other schools. Me being a speed/slot guy, they already have a couple and early playing time is a key for me."

With all this in mind, Fleet will now try to narrow down his choices and decide on the best place to take his talents.

"I'll probably know the end of January."
