WMU Satellite Camp Report: Grand Rapids
Muskegon Heights brought a slew of talented players out. DE/LB Daquante Caviness is a prospect being looked at by the Broncos, Eastern Michigan and Grand Valley State. He is a big bodied player with good feet for a bigger guy. Once he adds a little more muscle, he'll be a good one.
Teammate Steve Winston has been racking up offers lately and they don't appear to be stopping. He didn't participate much today, but he was the highest rated prospect in attendance and it appears as though he'll earn a WMU offer soon.
DT/G Kyle Jackson is a load at 6'1, 315. Though he plays center for Heights, he has the body to play nose guard at the next level, something he will do this season as well.
CB Jarvis Briggs recently received an Eastern Michigan offer and he looks like he'll add to that soon. Though not the biggest guy at 5'10, 165, he is aggressive, physical and has good hips.
Ottawa Hills OT Derek Allen is a massive, 6'4, 320-lb player who moves pretty well for somebody that size. He looks to be more of a guard prospect. We'll check him out more on film, but he looks like a good prospect.
Grand Rapids Christian junior RB Michael Booker doesn't have great size, but he's really quick and has good feet. He may turn into an all purpose back for someone in the future, we'll monitor him, the real question is size.
Muskegon QB Chris Crawford was in attendance and he looks much better throwing the ball. His passes have zip and more accuracy and his mechanics have improved dramatically. He also worked out at defensive back, which is likely the spot bigger schools will recruit him at. He is a good athlete and isn't afraid of contact. Either way, Crawford is a player we like.
His teammate, G MacClain Parker isn't the biggest at 6'3, 240, but he's tough and is working on putting more weight on which will help his college chances. He currently stands as a Divison II prospect.
MichiganVarsity.com will now head to Grand Ledge for the second leg of the WMU west side camps.
