One of the state's top basketball players and best dunkers made his college choice this past week.

Lake Orion forward Drew Maynard made a committment to Oakland University this past week. The 6'6, 215-lb Maynard chose Oakland over offers from Eastern Michigan, Fairfield, Kent State and Loyola.

Maynard has led Lake Orion to two straight Division 2 titles. He also made the Oakland County Dream Team two years straigt and was named 1st team All-Area and 3rd team All-State by the Detroit News.

For the past two summers, he has joined the Michigan Mustangs AAU squad. As a senior, Maynard faced double and triple teams as well as box and one defenses. As a junior, he averaged 19.5 points per game, 9 rebounds and blocked 42 shots.
