Wolfe Under the Radar

Martin QB Keaton Wolfe is entering his third year as varsity starter. He has put up some good numbers over the past couple years, but is still flying low on the recruiting radar.

Martin, MI is not typically known as a football factory. Though Martin High School has been a successful program of late, one thing they haven't had is high level college prospects. QB Keaton Wolfe might just change that, but first he must get recruiters to notice him, just as opposing coaches have.

"That kid killed us," an opposing coach said, "I don't know how small of schools you guys look at, but that kid absolutely shredded us."

That coach wasn't alone. Wolfe passed for 1532 yards last season, 17 touchdowns and also added 9 on the ground. That followed a strong sophomore season, his first as a starter.

"Yeah, there was a little pressure on me because we’re expecting to make the playoffs every year and compete."

This summer, he'll embark on a camp tour he is hoping will garner him more recruiting attention.

"I’m planning on going to a NIKE camp in West Lafayette," he reported, "also, Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan, and a bunch of one day camps."

At the moment, Wolfe says he is only really hearing from one school, but it is a biggie: The Florida State Seminoles. Wolfe went down to Tallahassee last season for the Florida-Florida State game and had a chance to talk to coaches there. However, Doak Campbell Stadium is a long way from Martin.

"I’d like to play somewhere around Michigan, somewhere close to home," he said, "But yeah, I'd go down to Florida if I thought I had a chance to compete and play."

A chance...chance to be noticed, chance to play close to home, a lot is left to be determined at the summer camps and this season, but Keaton Wolfe isn't asking for much, just a chance.
