Michigan Countdown: 80-71

Mike McElroy

Over the next few weeks, Michigan Insider will countdown the top 100 football recruits in the state of Michigan all the way to number one. We continue here with players 80-71.

80 – Joshua Tiller – TE – Detroit MacKenzie (6'4, 235)
Tiller was not only a standout TE and DE for Mackenzie, but was also their kicker and punter as well. He has drawn interest from several MAC and Big Ten teams.

79 – Callan Sherd – DB – Rockford (6'1, 175)
Talented defensive back who had 7 picks as a senior. Sherd is leaning towards Grand Valley over Wayne State and Ferris State.

78 – Casey Therriault – QB – Wyoming Park (6'3, 180)
Accurate passer with decent size, athleticism and upside…is waiting for MAC/Big Ten offers, but could end up in the GLIAC.

77 – Maurice Goodrum – RB – Detroit Henry Ford (5'8, 175)
Goodrum is a cat quick back who has committed to Bowling Green where he should fit in well with their spread offense.

76 – Mike Petrucci – LB – Milford (6'2, 215)
Petrucci had a great career on both sides of the ball but is all over the place on D and hence, he will likely end up linebacker for Central Michigan, the school he pledged to in August.

75 – Greg Gay – RB – Macomb Dakota (6'0, 185)
Not necessarily the biggest or fastest back, but Gay has excellent run instincts and can catch the ball out of the backfield. Is getting some D1 nibbles, but is also interested in the D2 ranks.

74 – Mike McElroy – WR – Lowell (6'2, 175)
An excellent receiver who knows how to play the game and runs excellent routes. He has had some D1 interest and may walk-on somewhere, but the Lowell pipeline to Grand Valley (Mike Koster, Mark Catlin) may bring McElroy in too.

73 – Zach Benke – LB – Stevensville (6'1, 200)
Undersized, but his 4.58 speed is an asset and makes him a good fit in Mount Pleasant as Central Michigan has had great success with undersized, faster linebackers.

72 – Adam Setterbo – OLB/DE – Spring Lake (6'2, 234)
Has been offered a preferred walk-on spot with Eastern Michigan. Central Michigan and Michigan State showed interest before recent coaching changes, so the word is Setterbo is heavily considering Grand Valley but also may try to walk on at Michigan.

71 – Dominique Darden – WR – Birmingham Groves (6'1, 175)
Athletic wide receiver who transferred from Parkview High (Liburn, GA) and had an impact on both sides of the ball last season. Darden is headed to Grand Valley where he should fit in well in their spread offense.
