Finley Won't Forget First Offer

Finley Won't Forget First Offer

Muskegon (Mich.) junior defensive tackle Kenny Finley picked up his first offer this week. He talked about that experience along with his recent Michigan State junior day trip in this update.

What seemed like a routine Tuesday turned into a milestone day for Kenny Finley. The 6'3, 260-lb junior defensive tackle from Muskegon High was offered a scholarship by Toledo, his first offer.

"I'm feeling great," he said. "Walking in there, meeting coach and hearing they wanted me to come down there on the 26th to meet the head coach, I didn't know what was going on at first. I thought it was just another visit to a college. Then they told my coach they were offering me. It was wonderful. I was blown away. It's my first offer, and I'm never going to forget it."

With his potential, quickness off the ball, and coming off a good performance at the U.S. Army Combine, it is likely this won't be the last offer for Finley.

He has a number of other programs interested, including Michigan State, who he visited for Junior Day last Sunday.

"Yeah, it was good actually. It was very nice up there. They have a very beautiful campus. We took a tour of the athletic facilities and they showed me their recovery center. It looked good. The academics are good, and they explained about that, how they keep the players in line and their grades up."

A former Big Red defensive lineman Damon Knox is currently up in East Lansing, and Finley is trying to establish relationships with the coaches there as well.

"I got along well with my recruiter Mike Tressel. He's a very good guy. They're interested, but they want to wait. Offer wise, I don't know, but they invited me to Junior Day to show me around, so I think they're interested. Time will tell."

Finley plans to attend junior day at Toledo on January 26th. He is also hearing from Iowa, Cincinnati, Michigan and others.
