Johnson Plans to Keep Working Hard

Cass Tech (Mich.) junior guard D'Andre Johnson talks about his current offers and increasing interest from some big time division one schools.

Cass Tech (Mich.) junior guard 6-foot-0, 165-pound D'Andre Johnson is one of the most underrated guards in the state of Michigan but that hasn't been lost upon certain schools. Johnson has earned eight offers from schools like Duquesne, Fordham, St. Bonaventure, Detroit Mercy, Western Michigan, Central Michigan, Toledo and Akron.

"Having all these different offers are a blessing." Johnson said. "I don't take any of my offers for granted and I am honored to have them. They are all great schools and I hope to visit and learn more about each school as time goes on."

Johnson has had several double-doubles so far this season and that type of play hasn't been lost upon the big time schools. Johnson is currently gaining interest from Stanford, Miami, and Clemson.

"Lately I have been receiving more calls and mail from Stanford, Miami and Clemson." Johnson replied. "I am once again both honored and blessed to have looks from schools like that but I won't be completely happy until I turn those looks into offers."

Johnson is not close to making a commitment anywhere right now. He wants more offers and says that he is open minded right now.

"As far as a commitment, the door is wide open." Johnson said. "I don't plan to make a decision right now or in the near future. I have more work to do as far as improving my game and working to get more offers.

However, Johnson does say when it comes time to make a commitment; there are couple factors that will go in to his decision.

"The coaching staff is a key factor." Johnson replied. "Whoever I decide to play for, I must feel comfortable with the staff and I need to feel that they can to make me a better student athlete.

Johnson is honor student with a current grade point average of 3.6 and plans to major into Architecture.

"Education is always big factor on my list and that won't ever change." Johnson said. "Other factors that come in to play would be the style of play and the system."

Johnson has two main goals right now other than recruiting process and they both involve Cass Tech and his AAU Team the Michigan Mustangs.

"I will start with Cass Tech." Johnson replied. "My first goal is to win a District Championship for Cass Tech, as a basketball team we haven't won one in a long time, so this year I hope to change that. Secondly for AAU season, I hope to lead my team (Michigan Mustangs) to tournament win at the Adidas Tournament. We came very close last year and there is no reason we can't win it all this time. Other than that I plan to keep working hard.
